We ARE beautiful!

Now, I know I'm not the only one who gets up most days and wishes that I was a little skinnier, more beautiful, had cuter clothes, etc., etc., etc. and feel like I just don't measure up in the "beauty" department. Why is that ladies? Why are we so hard on ourselves?

Well, tonight I had kind of an "ah-ha" moment as Oprah would say. We had our Enrichment Night and a cute lady came and spoke to us about her mission to Africa. She shared a story with us that I'm hoping I'll never forget!

She explained that most of the people she knew in Kenya had only a small, broken piece of mirror that they used and as a result, most had never seen themselves entirely in the mirror. She went on to tell us about a lady that had finally made the long trip to the temple - most likely the only time that she would ever be able to go in her lifetime. As she stood in front of the mirror, the temple workers asked her if she needed directions on where to go and her response was a humble, "No, I just want to stand here and see how beautiful I am." WOW!

I guess what I'm trying to say is I hope that we all will get to the point where we can look in the mirror and not see all of our "flaws," but know that we ARE beautiful!

Now, please pass me my running shoes because I need to go exercise and then I'm off to the mall. (Just kidding!) Love you all and sorry for the 2 serious blogs in a row. What's up with that?

Jill you are so beautiful. When I was little I could not wait to be big and I want to look just like you. Your blue eyeshadow was waht I loved the most, well and Pete. But how great would it be if we could all see ourselves that way!

Oh Jill..you are so great! I thought the same thing last night. Although I too have days where just a little piece of a mirror would be nice, not a full shot. It was a good reminder of what's important...right! I sure love you and am grateful to have such a fabulous friend.

PS. I'll be watching out my window to see you run by!

I loved when she shared that story too. It is so true, why can't we just put the petty things aside and know we are each beautiful?! It was fun chatting with you at play group!!
