Miss E is 6 weeks today!
The waiting is over

Ben and April have been friends of ours ... correction - FAMILY to us since the long and hard days of law school. Without question they were our saving grace back then. Hundreds of miles from anyone or anything familiar to us, we stuck together and made it through. We have so many wonderful memories of those days, but thankfully the memories don't stop there. We've remained close and continue to have fun times together, even if it's only once or twice a year.
This past weekend they made the journey from beautiful Carlsbad to St. George, which April calls "the surface of the sun!" (And quite honestly it felt like it!) It didn't matter that it was too hot to even stick our toes outside. We spent 3 days talking, laughing, eating and loving on our new babies. It was PERFECT! You see ... this was what we were waiting for all those years ... BABIES!
Like us, B & A struggled with infertility. April and I have shed more than a few tears longing for little ones to love. And now it's almost like a poetic ending ... we have 5 kids between us! And ironically ... Amelie and Emersyn are exactly 3 weeks apart! I always said that I wanted baby #3 incredibly bad, but I also wanted my sister, Amy, and April to both adopt babies before we did. My wish came true! April was also in the delivery room with their birth mom when Amelie was born. I love that she knows EXACTLY how I feel about birth moms, adopting, and the amazing experience of seeing our daughters born! What a blessing and well worth the wait!
Thanks Meekers for all you mean to us! Your love and constant friendship are something that we deeply treasure. Until next time, here's a little something to remind you of your visit ... a picture of the renegades!

Do you think she was meant to be my niece or what?

A fun and exciting week, except ...
Saturday night we were celebrating the 4th of July with the Jorgensens and the kids were riding scooters. Despite our "friendly reminders" to be careful, they decided to start doing "tricks" and you guessed it, Kate went down and landed on her arm. Thankfully it's only a slight fracture. I think she's secretly a little excited to get her cast in a day or two so that everyone can sign it. I'm just grateful that she's okay and that it wasn't any worse.
Aside from our ER visit, we've had lots to celebrate the past few days. On the 27th Greg and I celebrated our 18th anniversary. (My gosh! That makes us sound old, doesn't it?) We were able to spend part of our day at the temple with our good friends the Morbys while they had their little guy Nash sealed to them. (He happens to be my future son-in-law. Check out this cute picture of he and Eme. Aren't they going to give me adorable grandchildren?)
Then Greg and I took Eme and we went out to dinner. I'm so grateful to call this AMAZING man my husband and best friend! Thanks for 18 great years hon! You're the best!
Four days later we celebrated another milestone ... the above mentioned great guy celebrated his 40th birthday! He isn't one for big celebrations, but we had to do something. So I surprised him by inviting some friends over for dinner on Tuesday night. I was quite proud of myself for pulling it off. Thankfully he bought my story that I needed him home to watch the kids while I was going out with some girlfriends. Then on his actual birthday, the kids and I took cupcakes to his office, put 40 signs in our front yard and fixed him his favorite meal. Hopefully he had a great day and felt loved and appreciated. Hard to believe he's 40, but Gregor, you don't look a day over 29! We love you!
The week ended with a fun 4th of July trip to Brianhead and Cedar Breaks. We decided to pack up a picnic and head for some cooler weather. Once we got there we realized that we should have packed some jackets. It was 90 degrees when we left St. George but it was only 57 degrees when we reached the peak. So, we adapted to our surroundings and had a picnic in the back of our van. Who says minivans aren't cool? Kate and Josh said this was the greatest 4th of July ever. Who knew? It was a fun day filled with family, friends, food and fireworks ... oops ... not this year! Instead ... family, friends, food and a FRACTURED arm!
