Day 2 and more attitude ... YIKES!
Day #2 of school and more posing by my kiddos. Too bad they're so shy in front of the camera, right? Seriously! Where do they get this kind of picture attitude from? Oh, I remember ... their aunt is a photographer!

First day of school
It's that time of year again ... the first day of school! How can one day be so full of emotions? Excitement, nervousness, happiness, sadness. I honestly had butterflies in my stomach! Kate and Josh were both EXTREMELY excited for today! Neither one of them slept all that great, but they were up at the crack of dawn, going through their "to do before school" lists. Let's just hope that the excitement lasts a little while.

Walking into the school on the first day you can almost feel the excitement in the air. New clothes, haircuts, backpacks, shoes, school supplies and most importantly, a new teacher and being reunited with friends! I almost wished I was going back to school!
I must admit I've been counting down the days for school to start. You see, with a new baby sister, 110 degree weather and a child with a cast on one arm, it doesn't feel like we've done much but stay inside. Don't get me wrong, we've had a FABULOUS time together, but I think we were all ready for a little routine. However, during the past few days I've started to feel a little sad. Two of my three babies would be gone from 8:30-3:45 every day. And for the first time in 6 1/2 years I wouldn't be eating lunch with my little boy. So, yes! I did get a little teary and I'm not ashamed to admit it!

Thankfully they both came home full of excitement and details about their first day! I'm so glad! Here we come 4th and 1st grade!
P.S. ... Just in case you are wondering ... NO, my son is not part of a gang and NO, my daughter has not gotten a contract to model for Vogue magazine!

Can this be love ... at 9 weeks old?
I'm shocked to realize that Emersyn is already 9 weeks old! WOW! We took her in for her 2 month check-up and she now weighs a hefty 9 lbs. 12 oz. and is 22 inches long! She's gettin' kinda chubby and I'm SO happy! As you can tell, she doesn't lack for love.

Speaking of love ... I'm hoping that this may be the beginning of a beautiful love story. My very dear friend Amy's little guy, Nash, I believe has a thing for my daughter ... and you won't hear me complaining! Wouldn't this be a sweet picture at the beginning of their wedding video? Silly, I know ... but hey, love is grand at any age, right? Amy ... I've got June of 2029 all blocked out for a gorgeous garden reception!

Salt Lake Fun!
Brace yourself! This is going to be a LONG post! (I'm trying to get caught up before school starts, can you tell?)
We decided to get out of the heat and headed to Salt Lake for a little fun. To start off we celebrated Utah's Pioneer Day with the 24th of July Parade. It was super hot, but we appreciated Ry, Deb and Nolan for sleeping out in order to get good seats! Way to go you guys! Thanks for taking one for the team!
Eme also got to meet some of her aunts, uncles and cousins for the first time. I think that Zoe was by far the most excited to see her!

Next on our vacation ... A surprise 60th birthday party for Nana! We told her to keep her day wide open. We started off with a little miniature golf and some lunch at Cafe Rio - her fav! Then we told her we all had things to do and that we'd meet back at her house for cards and pizza that night. Thanks to Jim (Nana's beau) for keeping her occupied for a few hours and getting her to the party without suspecting anything. The rest of us headed back to her house to prepare for the big surprise. We managed to pull it off and everyone had a great time! We love you mom/nana! Thanks for being such an incredible part of our lives!
Then sadly, Mr. Hardman had to head home to "bring home the bacon." But the kids and I decided to stay for a few extra days and party some more. I spent time shopping for school clothes and even tried my hand at sewing. We also got to be a part of Zoe's birthday party, the mom's (and Eme) had a little girls weekend and we went to the beach. Okay ... when I say beach I use that term loosely. It's a man-made beach, nothing like the real thing, but we had a great time nonetheless.
Thanks everyone for a fun, fun week! We love and miss you all tons! See you again in a few weeks!
